1. Microsoft Edge
Microsoft has made some significant improvements on its Edge browser for Android, and that’s the reason for its inclusion in this month’s list. This neat Android browser now comes packed with a redesigned navigation menu at the bottom, which makes navigating a charming affair, especially if your phone has a tall display. You can access all your Favorite tabs, History, and Downloads just by tapping on a single button. The Edge Browser addresses that and more. Plus, there’s a new hamburger menu at the top-right corner, which gives you a bunch of options to optimize your landing page. For instance, you can switch between Focused mode, Inspirational, and the Informational mode depending on your reading habit. 2. Typewise Keyboard
If you’re bored with your regular keyboard app, you must surely check out Typewise. This new keyboard app is looking to shake the traditional layout of keyboards with its unique hexagon-shaped keys. As you can see below, the familiar QWERTY layout of the keyboard is gone too. But before you get intimated by it, let me tell you that the makers of the keyboard claim that there’s around 80% reduction in typos, all thanks to the larger keys. You won’t find a dedicated backspace key in this one. Instead, you gently slide left on the keyboard UI, and the text will get removed automatically. Cool, right? Of course, this drastic redesigning means you will need a bit of time to get used to it, but once you do, your typing will get much better. The crux of this keyboard is that it requires no permissions. And the autocorrect is pretty awesome. There are other themes to which you can switch if you use the Pro version of this app. Overall, Typewise is a good app to start with, if you are looking for a break from the regular choices like SwiftKey and Gboard. 3. gesturePlus
Do you love using navigational gestures on your Android? If yes, you are going to love gesturePlus. This nifty app adds a software button in the middle of the navigation gestures bar. And as you may have already guessed, you can customize this button with an action of your choice. For instance, if you want to call up Google Assistant or open the Navigation module of Google Maps, you can do so. The best part of this app is that configuring it is as simple as 1-2-3. At the time of writing, gesturePlus lets you program to button to launch an app of your choice, open system tools, modify sounds, or configure the voice assistant of your choice. Apart from that, there’s also a space to add a long-tap action. Download gesturePlus
4. Audio Manager Lite
The Audio Manager Lite is the apt app for you if you regularly switch between different audio profiles on your phone. This app has a series of tools that let you automatically adjust the volume level without any manual intervention. It has a series of routines that you can program. So, if you want to phone to switch to silent mode at 3:00 PM every evening on some days, this app makes it possible. All you need to do is tap on Routines and then add the necessary events like time and sound level. The best part is that you can have several routines running at the same time. Another thing you will appreciate about this app is that the volume presets (Silent, DND, mid-volume, high-volume) are available as a sticky notification. So if you want to lower the overall system volume instantly, you just need to press a simple button. And that’s it. (OnePlus users, this trick is not for you wink wink). If you upgrade to the paid version, you will be able to use location-based audio routines as well. 5. Steno Notes
Next on our list is Steno notes, and easy-to-use note-taking app. It gets rid of all the distracting stuff like formatting options, bullet points, and the likes. Instead, it packs a clutter-free UI and you will love its clean look. The best part is that you can organize all your notes into folders by adding a hashtag to your notes. Yep, Steno is that simple. I loved the fact that all the folders are painted in different colors, which makes them easily accessible. The search functionality is pretty simple. Type the keyword at the search field, and the app will fetch you the note irrespective of whether the searched term is in the body or the titles. Deleting a note is as simple. 6. My Wall
My Wall is amazing if you love customizing your phone’s wallpapers. It’s a small, lightweight wallpaper manager app that lets you modify a wallpaper as per your liking. For instance, if you want to tweak the brightness of the image, give it a blurry background or apply filters, it lets you do so. Moreover, you can also pick out the main color pallettes from the image, so that you can adjust the color of your home screen widgets and icons. Being a new app, it does have its share of limitations. For example, you can only customize your phone’s current home screen image, and can’t pick up a random image from the storage. Download My Wall
7. Activity Bubbles
With our phones occupying a center stage in our lives, we must know how much of our time we spend (or waste?) on our phones. With Activity Bubbles, you will now be able to gauge the amount of time you spend on your phone. It’s a live wallpaper app, which shows you your phone usage by creating small bubbles. And as the day progresses, the bubbles and their respective sizes will go on increasing. Your goal is to keep the number of bubbles (as well as their sizes) down to a minimum if you want to reduce your phone usage. Activity Bubbles needs Google’s Wallpaper app to function. So, these were some of the new and exciting Android apps released in the last few months.
