Your favorite Bluetooth keyboard with custom keycaps is useless when it fails to connect to your computer. Before you settle with a wired connection, use the tricks below to fix the issue.

1. Check Battery Level on Your Bluetooth Keyboard

Most Bluetooth keyboards come with a battery-level indicator. If it’s flashing a red LED, your Bluetooth keyboard is running out of battery juice. You may use the supplied cable to charge your Bluetooth keyboard. The LED indicator on the keyboard will notify you when it is fully charged. After that, connect the Bluetooth keyboard to your computer again.

2. Reset Bluetooth Keyboard

When your Bluetooth keyboard misbehaves out of nowhere, you can reset it to fix the issue. You need to open your Bluetooth keyboard’s manual and check the steps to reset the Bluetooth keyboard. Every keyboard you use will have a different mechanism – either a dedicated switch or a combination of keys you’ll need to press together. For example, we had to press fn + J + Z keys for around four seconds and troubleshoot keyboard glitches on a Keychron K6 keyboard. Enable Bluetooth toggle and connect to your computer again.

3. Enable Bluetooth Toggle on Keyboard

When you switch from a wired connection to Bluetooth, you’ll need to enable the same on your keyboard. For hybrid keyboards that support wireless (Bluetooth) and wired connections, you’ll find a physical switch on the keyboard to enable Bluetooth.

4. Replug Bluetooth Adapter

Do you use a Bluetooth adapter to establish a wireless connection on your PC? You’ll need to ensure that the adapter is plugged in properly. You can temporarily remove the Bluetooth adapter and plug it back in. If you still face Bluetooth connection issues with your keyboard, plug the adapter into a different USB port. Your PC likely has four or five USB ports to connect different accessories.

5. Invest in a Better Bluetooth Adapter

6. Remove Other Connected Devices from Your Computer

You can remove Bluetooth devices such as mouse, microphones, earphones, and speakers if they’re connected to your Windows 11 PC. After that, try to re-establish the Bluetooth connection with a keyboard. Here’s how to remove saved Bluetooth devices from Windows. Step 1: Open Windows 11 Settings menu (use Windows + I keys). Step 2: Select Bluetooth & device from the left sidebar.

Step 3: Select a three-dot menu beside a Bluetooth device you want to remove. Step 4: Click ‘Remove device.’

Step 5: Select Add device button from the same menu.

Make sure to enable Bluetooth on your keyboard (with enough charge) and connect it to your computer.

7. Switch Between Devices on Your Bluetooth Keyboard

Some Bluetooth keyboards allow you to connect to up three devices simultaneously. If you’re using one such keyboard, you might have to press the relevant keys shortcut to make it switch between devices like a tablet, phone, and computer.

For instance, you’ll need to press fn +1 or 2 or 3 switches together to jump between the paired devices without any issue.

8. Run Bluetooth Troubleshooter

Do you face Bluetooth issues only with your keyboard or other devices too? You can run a Bluetooth troubleshooter on Windows to fix the issue. Follow the steps below. Step 1: Launch Windows 11 Settings menu and open troubleshoot menu.

Step 2: Select ‘Other troubleshooters’.

Step 3: Run Bluetooth troubleshooter from the following menu.

Once Windows completes running the Bluetooth troubleshooter, connect your keyboard again.

9. Reinstall Bluetooth Drivers

Corrupt Bluetooth drivers also lead to connection issues with your keyboard. You can reinstall the Bluetooth driver from the Device Manager menu. Step 1: Right-click on the Windows key to open Device Manager.

Step 2: Expand the Bluetooth menu and find your keyboard from the list.

Step 3: Right-click on it and select ‘Uninstall device’ from the context menu.

Step 4: Confirm your decision and restart your computer.

10. Use Wired Connection

Do you still face issues with connecting your Bluetooth keyboard to a computer? You have no option but to switch to a wired connection for the time being (until your new keyboard arrives).
