Although the major upgrades to the 3T were its SoC and battery, people were concerned that the company might discontinue future updates for OnePlus 3 phone which they had bought just a few months ago. Putting these speculations to rest, Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has confirmed that both the devices will receive an Android Nougat update this December. That being said, the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 3 will receive an Android Nougat beta update on their Oxygen OS, which has been running on Android Marshmallow since the phone’s launch earlier this year. Contrary to popular belief, both the devices will share future update schedules.
OnePlus 3T Will Receive the Android Nougat Update a Little Late
The OnePlus 3T, which was recently launched with the same Android Marshmallow-based Oxygen OS, isn’t going to get the Android Nougat beta update. But the company has confirmed that the device will receive an Android Nougat update soon after the beta release, this December. The next device from OnePlus’ stable is most certainly going to be an upgrade on the 3T in terms of specs and pricing both. While the company wants to maintain its mass appeal by pricing products at cheaper rates than its competition, the increasing price of advanced components on the devices might mean that the company will have to redefine its market appeal. OnePlus’ latest offering — the 3T — is scheduled for launch in the US and Canada on November 22, and in Europe on November 28. India launch date is yet to be released, but considering the fact that the sub-continent remains one of the biggest markets for smartphones in the world, it won’t be long before OnePlus 3T makes it way here.
