The thing about hiding the data on the portable drive is that the program should be able to protect the data irrespective of the computer the drive is plugged in. Rohos Mini Drive is a nifty tool that makes a hidden and encrypted partition on your portable drive to keep all your important data safe no matter which computer your USB drive is plugged in. Installing the tool is an easy process, just follow the onscreen instructions and run the program after installation completes. The opening screen of the tool will show you all the encrypted volumes you have created along with options to create encrypted USB drive or hide a folder. In this post, we will see how we can create an encrypted USB Drive. To begin with, click on the Encrypt USB Drive button. The program will start a wizard which will automatically detect any portable drive that’s connected to your computer and will self-allocate partition size and letter. If you would like to change any settings, just click on the respective Change button and make the changes. Finally provide a password you will use for the encryption and click on the Create disk button to create the encrypted partition. You can now save your confidential data in the newly created drive. The newly created drive details will show up in the connected disk section of Rohos Mini Drive. From here you can browse through the files on the encrypted drive. When you are done, just click on the disconnect link and it un-mounts the encrypted partition. There’s a tool menu from where you can control the encrypted disk like deletion of the volume, change of password, etc. Rohos Mini Drive also creates a portable application on the pen drive named Rohos Mini Drive (Portable).exe using which you can launch the encrypted volume on any public computer. All the contents will be available in read only mode though.
My Verdict
The best thing about Rohos is that the encrypted data will be invisible on pubic computers as well and the ability to create the portable tool to read the encrypted files on a different computer is like a cherry on top.
