If you’re managing a (fairly successful) YouTube channel, you always need to know how your videos are performing, so you can make quick decisions on the way you’ll be moving forward. Well, Google seems to have had this exact idea in mind when it created YouTube Creator Studio. The app has been announced recently and it works on Android 4.0 and later, but an iOS version has also been promised. Until the latter is available, you can download and install the Android version for free from the Google Play Store. With that said, let’s take a look at what Google’s new app is capable of and how it will help you, the YouTube content creator.
YouTube Creator Studio Android App
Mind you, YouTube Creator Studio, despite its somewhat confusing name, is aimed at the “business” end of a YouTube channel, the one dealing with view numbers, analytics and earnings. You won’t even upload videos through this; you’ll just find out how well (or how bad) the ones you have on your channel are doing. After installing the app on your Android device, the interface should be very familiar to you, if you’re a regular Android user, that is (and who isn’t, these days?). The interface looks very close to the one you know and love in other Google apps. Just slide your finger left to right to get to the main menu. You’ll be logged in to the app with the Google account you’re currently using on your Android device. Cool Tip: If you want to use another account, just tap the arrow next to your name and then Add Account. Once your account is set up, you can go ahead and start enjoying the app. It may be a little basic at the moment, but Google has promised that new features would be added to it over time. Coming back to the menu, tap Dashboard to get an overall look at how your channel is doing. Videos, on the other hand, is the place where you can work with each specific video you’ve uploaded, one at a time. That’s because tapping its name in the list takes you to its own ‘dashboard’ if you will. Tapping Edit Video will allow you to edit descriptions, as well as make the video public or private. You can even get real-time stats for that specific video as well, and also access the comments you’ve received from your viewers. Comments also have their own specific menu, where you can manage them all in one place. If you have a very social channel, where users comment a lot on your YouTube videos, you’ll enjoy this section. Of course, tapping a comment allows you to answer it. If you’re managing the business side of things, you can say I’ve saved the best for last. The Analytics section should be very useful to you. You get all the relevant stats you could want, including number of minutes watched and estimated earnings. It’s important to see the revenue ads in your videos are bringing you, isn’t it? The app also provides you with a shortcut to the main YouTube app, should you want to upload some new videos.
Bottom Line
All in all, Google has done things right, as this new app provides some very useful features which make managing a YouTube channel much easier.
